Find out about the place in India that is safe for solo female traveler. Don’t go to places where crime rates are higher or places that are very isolated. Choosing a safe place to travel is the first step for a solo female to travel India.
Dress Appropriately
While what you choose to wear entirely remains your personal choice, you must dress appropriately to avoid unwanted attention. Avoid dresses that are too revealing or the ones you are not comfortable in.

Travel India by Train (and take an upper berth)
Instead of traveling alone in a cab at night, try taking trains to destinations wherever possible. A train is always full of people, women, and children and makes it safer to travel alone. Also, try to book upper berth in a 3rd AC or sleeper class instead of booking a berth in 2nd AC or 1st class.
Don’t Reach to New Destination Late in the Night
This is very important for your safety as well as your budget. If a tour finds out you have stranded alone at a railway station/ bus stand at night, he might ask for much more money than what he really deserves. And of course, safety is an issue too! If the only train / flight to your destination reaches night make sure you book your hotel and cabs way in advance and co-ordinate with them effectively.
