Rohet, nestled in the Thar Desert, offers distinct seasonal experiences. Here's a guide to choosing the ideal time for your visit:

Pleasant Weather (October to March):

Considered the peak tourist season: Enjoy comfortable daytime temperatures (20°C to 30°C) ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities.

Clear skies and minimal rainfall: Perfect for exploring the desert landscape and capturing stunning photographs.

Potential for higher prices and crowds: Be prepared for busier tourist spots and slightly higher accommodation rates.

Shoulder Months (April & September):

Offers a balance between weather and crowds: Temperatures can be slightly warmer (up to 35°C) but still manageable.

Fewer crowds and potentially lower prices: Enjoy a more relaxed exploration and potentially better deals on travel and accommodation.

Possibility of dust storms: Be aware of occasional dust storms, especially in April.

Summer Months (May to August):

Not recommended for most travelers: Temperatures soar (up to 45°C) making sightseeing uncomfortable.

Reduced tourist activity: Many establishments may have limited hours or close during the hottest part of the day.

Monsoon showers (July & August): While uncommon, short bursts of rain can disrupt travel plans.

Festivals:

Marwar Festival (February/March): Immerse yourself in the vibrant Marwar Festival showcasing Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage through colorful processions, folk performances, and traditional sports competitions. Dates vary year to year, so plan accordingly.

Overall:

The ideal time to visit Rohet depends on your preferences. For comfortable sightseeing and pleasant weather, October to March is the best choice. Shoulder months offer a balance, while summer is best avoided. If you're keen on experiencing a local festival, plan your trip around the Marwar Festival.

Our FAQ's

The Indian Rupee (INR) is the official currency used in Rohet. ATMs are available in the town, but carrying some cash is advisable for smaller purchases in rural areas.  We recommend checking the latest exchange rate before your trip.

Rajasthani cuisine is a highlight in Rohet.  Sample Dal Baati Churma (a lentil dish with pan-fried bread), Laal Maas (spicy mutton curry), and Ker Sangri (beans and lentils curry).  Don't miss the chance to try freshly baked Pyaaz ki Kachori (flaky pastry with onion filling) and delicious Ghewar (sweet disc soaked in syrup).

Generally, Rohet is safe for solo travelers.  However, as with any destination, exercise common sense.  Be mindful of your belongings in crowded areas and avoid venturing alone into isolated areas at night.

Hindi is the primary language spoken in Rohet. English is understood in tourist areas, but basic Hindi phrases will be helpful.  FWD can provide a Hindi phrasebook or arrange for guides who speak English.

Rohet is a treasure trove for handcrafted souvenirs. Look for Rogan art paintings, embroidered textiles, pottery items, and beautifully carved wooden artifacts.  Support local artisans by purchasing directly from them.
