To address these issues, KMRC obtained permission from the Archaeological Survey of India in June 2017 and took steps to reinforce and temporarily relocate residents and shops in dilapidated buildings along this route. By November 2017, construction of the tunnel until Mahakaran station was completed without a hitch. Moving forward, careful planning continued for sections like Mahakaran–Esplanade where tunneling finished by March and April 2018 respectively after ensuring the safe relocation of affected parties.
