Agra is a city in Uttar Pradesh of India. Uttar Pradesh is located in the Northern part of the country. Agra can be rightly called as a hub of tourist spots. You must have heard about various forts and monuments, but there are some unexplored spots in Agra too. Let's talk about them. I happened to see the Paliwal Park in Delhi to Agra by car. This was the trigger in my mind to know more about Agra unexplored spots. So I found two more spots along with Paliwal Park. Those are the cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Soamibagh Samadhi. It was also interesting to know about something that many people are not aware of. Therefore, I decided to visit these places and also write about it.
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is known for being the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Agra. It was established in 1784 as a part of the mission “Sui iuris” of Hindustan when there was a territory split off from the Apostolic Vicariate of Great Mogul. The meaning of the mission “Sui iuris” is an independent mission. It is a very rare kind of Roman Catholic missionary pseudo diocesan jurisdiction. Now its status is Metropolitan Archdiocese of Agra but it is dependent on the Congregation for the Evangelization of peoples. This was the update in 1886.
It is a neo-Gothic Catholic Church. It has a very different kind of structure. It is somewhere similar to Indian temples. It also has a pointed tip, but it is not so rounded or circular the way Indian temples are. But it looks beautiful. The architecture from inside is intricate enough. I have already been to church; still, it was a new experience.
The location of the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Agra is Wazirpura Road.
Paliwal Park is also called as Hewitt Park. In fact, it was called Hewitt Park only till there was British rule in India. After independence, it was named as a Paliwal Park in the memory of Shri Krishna Datta Paliwal. Shri Krishna Dutta Paliwal was the first finance minister of Uttar Pradesh. The location of Paliwal Park is the center of Agra. It has an area of more than 70 acres.
There is a small lake with a great number of trees over there and that justifies it's been called a Park. When you go to the park and sit beside the lake you feel so relaxed. When there are trees in such a relaxing atmosphere, you feel like you are sitting in the lap of nature. If you have not tried it in your life, just do it once.
One good thing about Paliwal Park is that it links the residential areas of two colonies of Agra. Rather, it directly or indirectly connects 3 such residential places. Paliwal Park connects Vijaya Nagar Colony and Gandhi Nagar to the financial center of the city. The financial center of the city is Sanjay Palace.
